How To Post On Adeptenglish.com: The Guidelines
Although there may seem to be a lot information to work through, the reality is if you have interesting and helpful content that will benefit our audience, then posting on Adept English is pretty straight forward. We've really tried to answer all the questions you might have up-front.
1. Our Audience: English Language Learners
- Your content must be written specifically for non-native English speakers.
- Consider learners at various stages (from pre-intermediate to advanced). Clarity, simplicity (without being patronising), and practical application are key.
- Content should be sensitive to diverse cultural backgrounds.
2. Content Focus & Value: Educate, Don't Just Advertise
- Primary Goal: Posts must be highly educational, informative, and directly relevant to learning the English language.
- Topics We Love:
- Practical grammar explanations (with examples relevant to learners).
- Vocabulary building strategies and themed lists (e.g., idioms, phrasal verbs).
- Effective language learning techniques and study tips.
- Insights into British English nuances (vs. American English, or specific cultural contexts).
- Common mistakes English learners make and how to support them.
- Listening, speaking, reading, or writing skill development.
- Guidance for specific exams (e.g., IELTS, Cambridge exams), if universally applicable.
- Personal learning journey stories if they offer concrete, actionable advice for others.
- Value Proposition: Ask yourself: "How does this post help an English learner understand or do something better?" Content should solve a problem, answer a question, or provide a clear learning takeaway.
- Engagement: We encourage content that is not just informative but also engaging, perhaps using storytelling, relatable scenarios, or interactive elements (e.g., mini-quizzes learners can do themselves).
3. Originality & Quality
- 100% Original: All submissions must be entirely original content, not published anywhere else online (including your own blog or other platforms), now or in the future. We use plagiarism checkers.
- No AI-Generated Content: We require content written by humans for humans. Submissions found to be primarily AI-generated will be rejected.
- Well-Researched & Accurate: Facts, figures, and linguistic information must be accurate and, where appropriate, cite credible sources (though formal academic citation isn't usually necessary; a contextual link can suffice).
- High-Quality Writing: Content must be well-written, grammatically correct, with excellent spelling and punctuation, in clear British English.

5. Links & Attribution
- In-Content Links:
- Amaximum of 1-2 relevant, educational, non-promotional outbound links per 1,000 words are permitted within the body of the post.

Unlocking English Fluency: A Practical Guide to Mastering Phrasal Verbs
Phrasal verbs are a cornerstone of natural, fluent English. They combine a verb with a preposition or adverb (or both), creating a new meaning that's often idiomatic. For many English learners, they can seem daunting, but with the right approach, you can master them and significantly boost your conversational skills.
Why Focus on Phrasal Verbs?
Native speakers use phrasal verbs constantly in everyday conversation. Understanding and using them correctly will make your English sound more natural and help you comprehend spoken English much more easily. Think about common phrases like "give up," "look forward to," or "figure out"โthese are all essential phrasal verbs!
Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them
One of the biggest hurdles is the sheer number of phrasal verbs. Another is that many have multiple meanings. Don't let this discourage you! The key is to learn them in context. Instead of memorizing long lists, focus on understanding how they are used in real sentences.
For instance, the phrasal verb "look up" can mean:
- To search for information (e.g., "I need to look up this word in the dictionary.")
- To improve (e.g., "Things are finally looking up for him.")
Effective Strategies for Learning
- Context is King: Pay attention to how phrasal verbs are used in articles, books, movies, and conversations.
- Group by Verb or Particle: Sometimes it helps to study phrasal verbs based on the main verb (e.g., all phrasal verbs with "get") or the particle (e.g., all phrasal verbs with "up").
- Use Them Actively: Try to incorporate new phrasal verbs into your own speaking and writing. Practice makes perfect!
- Utilize Dedicated Resources: Many excellent resources are designed to help learners tackle phrasal verbs. For a comprehensive and interactive way to practice, you might explore tools like the LinguaBoost App's phrasal verb module, which offers targeted exercises and real-life examples.

...Another great way to solidify your understanding is to work through structured materials. If you're looking for a well-organized resource, consider downloading a guide like this free e-book on essential English phrasal verbs. It can provide a solid foundation.
Remember, consistency is key. A little bit of focused study each day will lead to big improvements over time!
